About Market vintage

Market vintage indy is located just east of indianapolis in the heart of the historic irvington neighborhood. Our focus is on sustainable furniture, home decor, and fashion.

individual style is a mix of new and old, high and low. developing unique style is all about collecting things that speak to you and tell a story. My vision for market vintage was to share treasures that bring joy to people’s homes and lives. Whether that’s a gorgeous hat with an antique brooch, or a unique piece of art, I want people to surround themselves with beautifully curated pieces that speak to them.

market vintage was founded in 2018 by me, siera hipsher. i have always had a deep love for vintage and unique goods. as a child we would comb local markets and antique malls in northern indiana. as a penny-pinching college student i worked retail, and shopped at goodwill. as an adult, i wrote descriptions for arts and antiques for an online estate sale company based out of ohio. it really made me appreciate those things on another level. i absolutely loved that job, and met some of my best friends!

In 2018, the company i was working for closed several locations around the country including indianapolis leaving me wondering what i was going to do next. i had already been selling vintage things on the side, so i decided to go for it full time.

i scoured the earth for all the vintage things. i decided to try out selling in person at a local market. i learned a lot about things that sold, things that didn’t. mostly i learned a lot about the market that i was selling at. i wondered why there wasn’t one in my neighborhood. that’s when i decided to start one!

i began where i start most things, i googled how to start a pop-up market. i reached out to the city of indianapolis, the health department, the parks department, and got an insurance policy for a single day event. then i posted on social media that i was looking for vendors. i was absolutely floored when people responded! my first event was happening.

the morning of the event i couldn’t believe my eyes. there was an epic downpour. the street were literally flooded. i gathered myself after a minor panic attack, and emailed the city, and the parks department to see what my options were. i could postpone to the next day! I emailed and texted all of my vendors to let them know, and we were back on. i learned so much from that first market, but i caught the bug. i wanted to do more events. i wanted to support more small businesses in my community. i wanted to bring something really cool to my neighborhood, and so i did.

i have hosted many events in irvington including Johnson Avenue Market (formerly market on the pennsy), shop small market, market at the lodge, red barn arts festival, haunted market at lodge 666, holiday market, and many more. i can say quite proudly that i wear each event like badge of honor.

in 2022 i started the year by putting my newest vision into the universe. i created this website and a new instagram handle… market vintage. in november of 2022 that vision is emerging.

market vintage is located on the first floor of the former masonic lodge 666 in historic irvington just east of downtown indianapolis. a retail store and event studio that is an incusive space in the community that i love.

market vintage will continue to push the envelope with new experiential retail and lifestyle concepts while lifting up small businesses and quirky style.

stay weird, and follow your dreams.

🖤 Siera
